We’ve got news! As a pioneer in closed loop & circular supply we’re delighted to announce our recent certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp). To become a certified B Corp we went through some rigorous third-party assessment to measure our impacts. Becoming part of the B Corp community means we are actively working towards a more inclusive, equitable and regenerative future as part of an inspiring community of businesses for good. We know this is only the beginning and we’ll keep working hard to improve our impact with better & brighter laundry!
What is B Corp?
The ‘B’ in B Corp refers to ‘Benefit for All’. When you see that a business carries the B Corp logo you know they’ve gone through some hardcore third-party assessments to measure their impact. Applicants are required to provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To achieve certification, the company legally embeds a commitment to purpose beyond profit in the company articles.
What’s the score?
We scored 104.6 points overall on our assessment, that’s well above the 80 required to achieve certification. The average score for businesses who complete the assessment is currently 50.9. You can find out more here. It means a lot to be joining a rapidly growing movement of more than 5,500 businesses in 83 countries and 157 industries. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 950 companies, although very few in the commercial laundry sector. The B Corp certification process needs dedication, patience & focus but it’s brilliant to be able to understand our impacts better. We don’t tend to take the quickest route anywhere. We’ve been around for 43 years and we’ve learned that there’s no fast route when you’re working it out as you go. We know there’s a helluva lot we can still do better. That’s what we’ll be doing now.
In the last few years, we’ve focussed all our attention on innovation, winning two prestigious government sponsored grants. We’ve built an industry leading lab team continuing on our quest to design the most eco-responsible solutions for laundries. We recognise the need to focus on that core objective; to make & deliver smarter, cleaner, brighter chemistry, formulated in accordance with our 12 principles of responsible formulation.
Brighter Laundry
Thanks for sticking with Ideal over the last few years. It means a lot. It’s been tough for everyone in the laundry fold. We’re proud to be a family-run independent maker of professional laundry products. It’s what we know. It’s what we do best. It’s been a long road to B Corp certification for us, but it marks another step towards our ambition to be the most responsible maker and supplier we can possibly be.
