Earlier this month we took a road trip to Amsterdam to visit Interclean, the largest professional cleaning exhibition in the world and a major international networking platform for the global cleaning industry. Running from 15th – 18th May, Interclean is billed as one serious cleaning show – and we didn’t want to miss it.
A truly global event, Interclean provided us with a great opportunity to meet friends, suppliers, partners, customers and some of our distributors from around the world – along with keeping in touch with the latest developments and trends in the cleaning industry.
Running from 15th – 18th May, the show hosted over 800 cleaning and hygiene product manufacturers from around the world. Remaining, first and foremost, a networking event, the exhibition is also a very useful way to keep in touch with some of the newest developments in the market. This year the event took place in 13 exhibition halls, with a combined total of 70,000 sqm.
The story of how Interclean started is a good one – beginning way back in Amsterdam’s famous Café Hoppe, where two gin drinking window cleaners came up with a plan to organise a little exhibition for themselves and other things related to cleaning. The first Interclean exhibition took place in 1967 and has since developed into the world’s leading trade fair for the cleaning industry.
Sometimes it’s great to get away from your normal work environment to see how things can be done differently, and reflect on what we do, and how we can do it better. Whenever we go away we also like to keep an eye out for cool laundry businesses, and this time around we made a short detour via Wasbar in Ghent, a modern laundromat cafe (opened in October 2012), where you can calmly let your laundry run while you enjoy breakfast, brunch or lunch.
We had a great time on the road, and we’ll definitely be back for the next show. See you at Interclean, Amsterdam, 12-15th May 2020.
