On Saturday 9th June the 2018 Ideal Wash Cyclists took on the local Cobbler Classic Sportive.
Taking its name from the shoe-making history of its Northamptonshire surroundings, the Sigma Sports Cobbler Classic took the Wash Cyclists through some beautiful sights along an undulating cycling route that never levels out.
Starting early on a chilly Saturday morning, the team set out from just outside Brackley, passing through the sleepy villages of Shalstone and Chackmore, with quiet country lanes connecting them, before going over the top of the historic Silverstone race track.
Pushing on, as temperatures rose to 23°C and glorious sunshine the riders dipped into Towcester, before riding out into the open on a long straight country lane. A few short and sharp climbs followed as the Wash Cyclists weaved through rural roads and on through Charwelton, Byfield and Culworth and finally to Biddleston, where they were ready to claim their well-deserved finisher’s medals.
